Meeting Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney was in town over the weekend for the Grammy Award Show and I had an opportunity to sit down with him for lunch.

There we were, just the two of us, sitting at an Elementary School lunch-room table, on plastic chairs, with aluminum trays.....????? WAIT A MINUTE!!!

I'm DREAMING. Or I should say, I WAS dreaming.

In my dream, I was just chatting up a much younger Paul, already famous, but still so darn friendly and open to everyone who approached him. What a guy!

It would have been nice to actually experience such a meeting. I have been a fan for 45 years. Wow. Forty-five years. Paul is 66 now. (I am 62...he was like the older brother I never had. We are both left-handed, but he plays the guitar and I "sort of" play the drums.)

I remember 1964 with such clarity; and the other night, seeing Paul McCartney at the Grammy Awards, singing one of the Beatles' hits from that year, must have kicked my subconscious into gear.

It was a good dream.

  1. I am a fan of Paul McCartney too, I when I was in high school, sometimes I would skip classes if there was a movie shown with him in there, or there were replays of his concert we watched in big screen.

  2. Hey Doug - funny that he lives down the road from us in Peasmarsh Sussex. I'm sure he didn't hand over the place to Heather, I've seen it from a distance in the car, very nice place. Ah well he deserves his peace and quiet, he's brought a lot of joy to a lot of people, and been through the wars with his ex. Dreams are strange things, perhaps you're destined to chat one day, maybe not, but if you do manage it again try and get him to sign a few albums ;p

  3. wow....meeting paul mccartney is also one of my dreams. glad one of us can make it. thanks for sharing the experience =)

  4. Hi Doug, great post! Stumbled it ...

  5. I really love Paul Mccartney, i am inlove with their songs, I am dreaming to see him in real, but it is impossible...your such a lucky one , chatting with him is truly remarkable. God bless.

  6. oh my what a dream. Although I was always more of a A rolling Stones fan.

there seems to be a definite split. either one of the other but not both.

I am glad to see that you too are giving CMF a try. I would love to place an ad but my funds are all gone.

I didn't get any for a while either so I lowered my price and I think I have 6 now. I just got the widget on day before yesterday.

I put mine right up under my Ecard. We'll see what happens I guess and whether it will work out or be tossed away huh?

I hope you have a good week. Oh my and your tooth. I need dental repair quite badly too. We have insurance. but, it seems they consider dentures a luxury.

So the portion they are willing to pay is minuscule. Some times I think we should just do without for all the good it does us.

Good luck with the dental and I hope you have a good week!

  7. Good post Doug! I talked to Ben Stein once about that very thing. He once wrote about having lunch with John Lennon in New York and in later years meeting Paul in a book store in LA. My first thought was, I had shaken hands with a guy that shook hands with two of the best song writers of our time. I have another story about Paul I will share with you sometime. Check out his YOU TUBE channel.

  8. Keep working ,great job!

I would be very pleased if you leave a comment. I will read every one too!!!
